

He is the soul, organiser, resident writer and actor of Divadlo F. X. Kalba, which originally emerged as a “punk offshoot” of the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec, later took on a life of its own and became a cult “theatre gang” closely connected with Divadlo pod Palmovkou. He was born in Banská Bystrica and, at the age of nineteen, left Slovakia for Prague, where he graduated in acting from DAMU in 2008. He then joined the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec, where he portrayed more than 30 characters. As an author, he contributed to the productions Perverted Margaret, My Little Perversion and House of Love 2: Return of the Handsome Boys, staged at A Studio Rubín. At the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec, he was behind the productions Googling and Fucking, Mickey Mouse Is Dead, LSDown, Logo, Dianiška Is God and Atomic Pussycat.
Since September 2014, he has been a member of the acting ensemble of Divadlo pod Palmovkou. Since then, Dianiška’s original plays 1000 Things That Piss Me Off, The Silence of the Beavers, How to Pick Up a Woman 2.0, Let Donna Graduate!, The Last Reason Not to Kill Yourself, Frankie The Armless, The Magnificetn 294, Encyclopedia of Action Film and Night of Broken Nails have been staged there. Tomáš Dianiška also appears in most of the productions listed.
In addition to his home theatre Divadlo pod Palmovkou, he works as an author and actor with several Prague stages, including MeetFactory, Divadlo LETÍ, A Studio Rubín, Masopust Theatre Company, Chemical Theatre, X10 Theatre and others. As a director, he has worked at Komorní scéna Aréna in Ostrava with V. Klimáček’s Komiks, and at the Petr Bezruč Theatre in Ostrava with his own plays Transky, Body, Seconds and Špinarka.
His original work The Silence of the Beavers received a nomination at the 2016 Czech Theatre Critics’ Awards, where he also received the Talent of the Year award. In 2019, he achieved success with the production Transky, Body, Seconds, which won both Production of the Year and Best Czech Play of the Year. His black comedy Frankie The Armless was also nominated for Best Czech Play. In 2020, his play The 294 Brave won in the Theatre Critics’ Awards poll and also received the Young Audience Club Award. A year later, his musical production Špinarka was also recognised, and in 2023 the thriller The Body of a Secret Agent won the title of Best New Czech Play.
Tomáš Dianiška is known for his sharp humour, irony and pop-cultural references, through which he also appeals to younger generations of theatregoers. In 2023, he released his first film comedy, She’s in It, and is currently preparing the sports drama Fighter, set in the world of MMA, scheduled to premiere in 2026.
