

He was born in Prague, where he studied at a secondary vocational school of electrical engineering. In 1995, he co-founded and led the Prague amateur theatre company Divadlo Promiňte. In 1997, he began studying theatre studies at Masaryk University in Brno. There he co-founded the student theatre Divadlo Čára, where he worked as artistic director and director. His productions included Apollinaire’s The Breasts of Tiresias, Čapek’s The Life and Work of the Composer Foltýn, Wilde’s Salome, the anonymous The Ointment Seller, and, in Czech premieres, Euripides’ Alcestis, Klíma’s I Have Walked Around Five Fields and the anonymous Ludus Danielis.
After completing his studies, he joined Brno City Theatre in 2004 as dramaturge. There he contributed to productions including Stoppard’s Arcadia, Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Lermontov’s Masquerade, Kofroň, Šimáček and Plachý’s The Magic Flute, Shakespeare’s King Henry VIII, Goldoni’s The Chioggia Scuffles, Schiller’s Mary Stuart, Hrubín’s Romance for Bugle, Labiche’s The Italian Straw Hat, Comenius’s The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart, among others.
Since January 2007, he has worked as dramaturge at Divadlo pod Palmovkou. He has contributed to productions including O’Neill’s Mourning Becomes Electra, Preissová’s Gazdina roba, Bolt’s historical play Long Live the Queen!, Wasserman’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Nash’s The Rainmaker, Cooney’s comedy Funny Money, Stone, Styne and Merrill’s musical Sugar – Some Like It Hot, Gordon’s Rain Man, Mann and Mnouchkine’s Mephisto, Allen’s A Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy, Ebb, Fosse and Kander’s Chicago, Shaw’s Saint Joan, Kohout’s August August, august, Williams’s A Streetcar Named Desire, Lustig’s A Prayer for Katerina Horovitzova, and others.
As dramaturge and co-author of the stage adaptation, he also worked on the production of Eco’s The Name of the Rose at Brno City Theatre and Mann and Mnouchkine’s Mephisto at the East Bohemian Theatre in Pardubice.
